Sonic Feelings
Uncovering a new layer between human emotions and aesthetic experiences.
2021
Sonic Feelings is an experiment that uses face-tracking to capture facial expressions while participants listen to soundscapes designed to evoke a particular emotional response. There are four audios: one provokes a happiness (pleasant) reaction, and the other two a negative (unpleasant) reaction with disgust and fear. The audio designs are based on psychoacoustic theory and sound illusions.
Presented in the AI festival, When Machines Dream The Future, at the Deutsches Hygiene‑Museum, Dresden, as part of a residency supported by the Goethe Institut, FabLab Torino, Zeitgeister - International Perspectives from Culture and Society.
